ST. LEONHARD'S INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH-SPEAKING
CATHOLIC PARISH

Procedures for Ministers of the Eucharist

1.  We are grateful for your generosity and commitment to serving as a minister of the Eucharist.  Your general appearance and the reverence that you show at the altar contribute to the spiritual experience of the assembly.

2.  Arrive 20 minutes before Mass, and let the coordinator know you are present.  Sit in the assembly near the Altar at the end of the pew.

3.  Gather with the Presider and the other ministers at the back of the church 5 minutes before Mass for a short prayer.

4.  After exchanging the Sign Of Peace, reverently proceed to the Altar, bow and take your place around the Altar in a close semicircle.

5.  The first person in the sanctuary should get the Ciborium from the Tabernacle and place it on the Altar.  Another minister takes the small plate, cups and purificators off the side table and places them on the Altar.  The wine is then poured carefully from the large beaker into the cups, using purificator if necessary.  The empty beaker is placed on the side table.

6.  After receiving the Body and Blood of Christ from the priest, proceed with the Presider to your position in front of the Altar, with Ciborium or cup to distribute the Eucharist.

7.  The minister with the Ciborium stands beside the priest.  Those with cups stand well to each side.

8.  After all people in the center rows are served, move to the left and right sides of the church, with the cup bearers leaving plenty of room for the priest.  Cup bearers should move as far to the side as possible, while still being easily accessible.

9.  After sharing the Eucharist with the assembly, the ministers return to the Altar.  The minister who has distributed the host combines the entire host into one Ciborium and returns it to the Tabernacle.

10.  One of the other ministers removes the chalice and place/bowl off the Altar and places them on the side table.  Together with the other minister consume what remains of the Precious Blood and them carefully and quietly cleanse cups and chalice.

11.  After the minister places the Ciborium in the Tabernacle she/he joins the other ministers.  All leave the Sanctuary together bowing in front of the Altar as one, and return to their seats.

Notes

-  If at any time you do not wish to receive the Precious Blood, keep your head bowed as Father comes to you with the cup.

- Please remember to let the Parish office know if you're going to be out of town so you can be scheduled accordingly.

- If you cannot attend the Mass you are scheduled for, it is your responsibility to find a replacement.
